April - Tips of the Month! - Aqua Pool & Spa Pros

Store Sale dates Saturday April 24th to Sunday May 2nd!

Once it warms up & the snow is melted, feel free to pump the water off of your cover to insure the least amount of leaves/debris getting into your pool water once opening it for the season. You can use a hose and syphon the water off or purchase a cover pump from us! Early warm temperatures this spring will most likely mean the possibility of algae growth starting soon in local swimming pools this year. This will be especially apparent with pools that were closed last fall with algae present.
To help head this off, pool owners can add up to 1 gallon of liquid chlorine per 10,000 gals. of pool water to the pool. They should be sure to add the chlorine in numerous places under the pool cover and try to stir up the water to mix the chlorine in. Be sure to not get the chlorine onto any pool surface, rinse it off if this happens.
Other helpful tasks prior to the pool being opened is to drain some of the water off the solid cover if you use one. This will make the job easier when the time comes to remove it. Do not remove the cover unless you are planning to get the pool operational soon after.
