July – Tips of the Month
Tip of the Month
Through these weird weather changes, pool chemistry can be altered in as little as a few hours, depending on what mother nature brings us. Rain is naturally acidic, so that means that it naturally drops the pH. That can also mean that the pool’s balance can become acidic and harmful to the swimmers as well as the equipment. Bringing in a weekly water sample, or if comfortable, testing at home is very important to prevent any damage.
Another tip for pools that have an abundance of Cottonwood, is to come pick up a 5 pack of Scum Socks. They are a nylon bag that sits on the skimmer basket to help prevent the build up of Cottonwood in the equipment. The Scum Socks help in easier clean out of the skimmer basket, filter and pump.
For both pools and spas, remember to shock after a heavy bather load to prevent any discoloration in the water. Whether that be algae, cloudiness, staining, or even mold. Also keep chemicals out of the direct sunlight. They are best kept in the garage, or the shed.
