May – Tip of the Month

Since Spring is finally here, there are some issues us pool owners can run into. Above normal rains can cause problems for pools, with equipment and chemically. Pool owners should never let their pools overflow due to heavy rains. Use a submersible sump pump or other means to drain the excess water from your pool covers. Also if you have a mesh cover on your pool it should be dry and somewhat taught. If you have standing water “on” your mesh cover then your water level is too high and should be lowered.

With all of this rain after opening your pool, it can mess with your chemistry levels. Rain is acidic so it will mostly mess with the pH as well as your alkalinity. Balanced water is essential for not only chemicals to work properly but more importantly for bather comfort.
